Someone.... talk me down. Toys are SO expensive, and money is SO tight.

Para Ordanance got out of building their piston gun. It has now gone back to Al Zitta who designed it and manufactured it prior to Para taking it over. I would take a look at that one. It is the best I've seen.
Hey, we share a birthday! Congratulations on completing another solar orbit.
I would try to talk you out of that M&P 15-22 but, I broke down and bought one myself this summer. Nice weapon and 22LR is still cheap to shoot. I don't have a good argument to talk you off the ledge here.
Well friends... my 'Birthday present shopping' ended up with me acquiring a new cell phone for Princess. Needs must, and she needed one ASAP for business. So... while she worked, I solved problems... one of which being her lost phone.
So be it. Such is life as an adult. At least I got her a fancy top of the line thing that will do all sorts of tricks... including being a credit card machine for her business.
As for me... I haven't given up hope. There are lots of toys out there, and as time permits I'll hunt up one of my own.
Have to say... as I look at all the possibilities, my thoughts always include "Would this be a good one to write up for my readers?". That tempers the alloy a surprising amount, tossing out a lot of silliness in the process.
I wouldnt get a 22. Get the real thing if you dont already have one. I bought a cheep Smith and Wesson (well $799 cheep..)and added what i wanted. You can always get the 22 conversion kit and shoot both .223 and .22LR.

Happy Birthday! And yeah, treat yourself to an exercise in turning fiat money into tangible assets.
Happy birthday!
Maybe some old mil-surp in need of some TLC? That would be charp, and give you a project. ;-)
Happy Birthday!
Toys/tools. It's such a thin line...
btw, are you still tracking WWP donations? If so, I have two more receipts for you.
Suz, There is another Wounded Warrior fund raiser scheduled to come up here in a week or so. Send me your receipts then, and you'll be in the drawing!
Hugs.

As DaddyBear says pickup a tangible asset rather than holding the fiat money.
Happy Birthday!
Hey--we share a birthday! Cool!
If it were me, I'd go for one of the Romanian Tokarevs, or maybe a Swedish Ljungman, but I'm weird.
Antibubba
Happy Birthday! And remember, you can't take it with you..
Hell, buy it... It's YOUR birthday, you can do anything you want :-)
If it was MY birthday, I'd want you to buy ME one. So I suppose that it's only fair that you buy yourself one. And Happy Birthday.
Consider it an investment. Money devalues if it is stored and prices increase. Durable goods increase in value over time.

belated happy birthday Carteach0! I would try and dissuade you from any birthday purchases but that would be mighty hypocritical of me....
