Good idea... ordering some myself...
I've always thought that if it's time to bury them, it's time to dig them up...
What do you think of packing things in rice?
I've heard of the rice trick, but have my doubts. I don't believe it will work long term.... but have nothing to base that on but a hunch.
The silica gel packs can be reused by heating them in an oven set to about 250* for several hours. It drives the moisture out, making them ready to absorb some more.
If you want silica gel in a container that will not only tell you when it has stopped working but is also safe to put in the oven to dry it out, try this.http://www.amazon.com/Pelican-1500D-Desiccant-Silica-Dehumidifier/dp/B003SSXJEA/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1358534454&sr=1-1&keywords=peli+desiccantIf you want a bunch of really cheap silica gel, you can go to an arts & crafts store and look for a product to dry out flowers. However, this silica gel is superfine. I put some in a sock, and there was still a bunch of silica dust that came out.
