Model 1 sales ?

Does anyone here in the family have experience with Model 1 sales?   I've sent them a few e-mails recently with queries regarding their products, and have received no response.

(Update:  Model 1 Sales response)

Thank you for your interest in our product.

Due to the high volume of orders, we are estimating delivery between 3-6 months from the date you place your order. You will receive an e-mail confirmation that we have received your order, however the e-mail confirmation does not guarantee an exact shipping date.

When we are ready to process your order we will email you to verify your order (you have not moved, you still want the order, and we can use the credit card on file).

Thank you for your patience

I've dealt with them for years and never had any complaints. They're a small outfit I think. Try them on the phone.

A couple of years back bought some uppers from them. Same as Murphy above. Good quick service but need to call them on the phone. I too believe its a small shop/family thing.

I can't recommend them. They have a catalogue with a bunch of pretty pictures, but back in the old days when they were smaller, they used to do "custom" AR upper assembly on-site at the Indy 1500. Pretty much all day long you could hear the proprietor or his son beating on a barrel nut wrench with a hammer - NOT GOOD! I don't know if they still assemble all of their own stuff, but I wouldn't trust it. You are way over-torquing things if you are beating on a barrel nut wrench to get things to line up. I would want my upper builder to be smarter than that.

I bought an upper from them a few years ago. The problem at the time, noted by many others, was that their payment system got hacked and spurious $1 test charges were being billed. Think of the test charges as checking the waters before charging something big. My bank caught it but when I called to warn Model1 they told me it was impossible, couldn't have happened. My imagination is not that good so I wrote them off as bad bet.

I got an upper from them ages ago, and it was just fine.

Their customer service is middling (in terms of, as you've seen, response times and the like, that is), but not actively hostile.

They are based here in Texas. I've bought a few parts from them at gunshows, but never anything from the catalog or online. My impression of them from the gunshows is that they are okay but not great. I've never had cause to call or write them about anything.

They sell at the big gun shows here in AZ, and I bought an upper from them there, also bought one via a mail order some years ago. Quality was fine, and the pricing was fair for what you got. I know some folks have had customer service issues over the years, but that was not my experience.

If you're looking for an inexpensive upper, you might give Del-ton a look. I've purchased 3 or 4 uppers there over the years, and they've been 100% Nothing fancy, mind, but solid, reliable and a good price point.
