A muzzle device just one step past cool....

Today's postal delivery brought a very cool thing to The Fat Man's hands.  A muzzle device... a flash suppressor... a very pointy reminder of the dangerous end of this rifle.

This special accessory for the PTAC (El Cheapo) upper's barrel came by way of Chuck Bogardus, a fine machinist and all round good guy out of St. Louis.  In his mad scientist machine shop, he hand crafts muzzle devices like this flash suppressor, and also muzzle brakes.  5.56 or 30 caliber, his product is pretty damn nicely made.

I paid $25 for this beauty, shipping included.  Chuck's work is good, and his prices reasonable.

The thing is..... no one will find this device in a store or catalog.  There's one man, and one man only, who makes these.  If you just have to have something this special for your rifle, contact Chuck at bogiestl@gmail.com, or friend him on Facebook (facebook.com/thebogie).

Herself, already liking this AR I put together, took a gander at this after it was installed.  She pricked her finger on the sharp points, and then pretty much declared it her rifle now.

Damn.

#1 Rule of Cool Stuff You Really Like - Buy two immediately. Because 1)they will be shortly discontinued or unavailable or 2) someone you really like takes a shine to it and you get to be hero gifting one for them.

Just how it shakes out, don't know why but happens to me all the time.

A good point. I guess when I get another $25 to spare, I'd best order another one.

Hey, thanks for the kind words... I'm just an American guy, using American equipment and American steel to make a little something that doesn't say "Made in China" on it...

I got mine yesterday too. Immediately showed it to a friend that was at the P.O too. Not installed yet.

As hard as it may be to believe, but that chunk of metal is freaking ILLEGAL in New York State due to the SAFE Act. You are probably 3 or so hours from me but illegal like in go to prison. Only comforting fact is that one of the leaders of the legislature who orchestrated its passage is going to be sentenced for corruption on May 12 in Federal court and will die in jail most likely.

I bought several on my second order, after getting my first one. They're very sharp, and it does a phenomenal job on my AR pistol which I sometimes carry as a truck security gun. It doesn't hurt that the muzzle looks like a cross between a Rottweiler and a plumber's snake for a train tunnel when presented toward people of ill intent.

Carteach, I thought you had hung it up. Glad to see you are still blogging.

I was so excited about that flash suppressor I messaged Chuck immediately. It looks so good on the AR. Sadly I do not think he can make me one in pink. :-P

Oh jeeze...

I have black parkerized everything to date, but NOW, because of Carteach's favorite fashion victim, I have to learn how to paint some pink...

More to come, but not this week...
